Since iOS 8 was released a few years ago, people who use the Mail app on iPhone have been offered with swipe options. Specifically, it is possible for you to swipe an email left or right to choose a series of options, including marking read/unread, deleting, flagging, or even archiving an email, while you are viewing an inbox. Aside from that, you are able to tap the More option to access to all the other email actions. Nevertheless, it is not all. In fact, you can customize these gestures as well as turn them off To do it, make sure that you follow the steps below.
How to Alter Mail Swipe Options in Settings on iPhone
Step 1: First and foremost, it is necessary to open the Settings app
Step 2: To move up, you need to tap Mail
Step 3: Then, you will be required to choose Swipe Options
Step 4: By default, you will see Flag for a left swipe and Mark as Read for a swipe right. Hence, if you would like to alter the swipe left gesture, you simply need to tap on “>” to see the other options
Step 5: Last but not least, you have to remember that you cannot select Mark as Read as an option due to the fact that it has already been set up for a right swipe. Like above, to see the other options for a right swipe, you need to tap on “>”. Archiving an email is also included among these options.
If you set both left and right swipe to None, you are still able to view the More option via a partial left swipe. In order to delete an email, you probably use a full swipe left.
