Steps to add uncategorized photos to the People album on your iPhone

In iOS 10, the Photos app got a new album called People. It allows you to sort photos by the people in the photos app . For example, my friend Mary is one such person in my People album. I can collect all of the photos that I have with her into the Mary folder and then access those photos easily. But some photos remain uncategorized. Fortunately, iPhone allows you to add uncategorized photos to the People album.

How to Add Uncategorized Photos to the People Album on iPhone

The built-in feature helps you to add additional photos to a person’s folder easily. With this feature, your iPhone can look for photos of the person that it thinks may be missing. You can do as following steps:

Step 1: First off, you need to open the Photos app

Step 2: Next, you have to navigate to the Album tab and select your People album

Step 3: You have to select a person who you’re sure you have additional photos of

Step 4: After that, you have to tap on their folder and scroll down to the bottom

Step 5: Then, you need to tap Confirm Additional Photos

Step 6: Now, if there are some, it will ask if the person in the photo is the same person. You need to tap Yes or No

Step 7: And, you can see “There doesn’t appear to be any additional photos of [person’s name]”, if there are none.

Here’s how to add an uncategorized photo to a person’s folder in the People album

Step 1: First off, you have to find the uncategorized photo you want to add and tap on it

Step 2: In the upper right corner, you need to tap Details

Step 3: Next, you now need to scroll down to People and tap on the photo

Step 4: Here, you have to enter their name. Now, there are 2 cases:

  • They have an existing People folder: As soon as you type their name, it will pop up and you only need to click on their folder, the photo will be added to it.
  • They don’t have an existing People folder: You need to type in their name. If you have one for them, their contact will pop up. You can select it and their folder will be created.
