With iOS 11, Apple has removed the company’s iCloud Drive in favor of a modern and handy Files app. Apple’s new Files app offers a lot more functionality than its predecessor and provides a huge improvement in file organization. However, there’s still something missing here.
In iOS 11, you cannot zip and unzip files stored in Files app, which is a little bit disappointing. Fortunately, there is a simple workaround for creating a zip from documents stored in iOS 11 Files app and all it takes is using a third-party app called Zipped.
For some background, Zipped is one of the best Zip file management apps out there. As the name implies, Zipped allows you to compress files into ZIP file and unzip any files stored on your device.
In this guide, we will go through the steps to zip and unzip files in the Files app. Before we begin, make sure you are now running iOS 11 on your device. If not, head to Settings > General > Software Update and update your device.
