iCloud backups let users securely store information on iPhone over Wi-Fi in the cloud, which helps them easily set up a new device or restore information on iOS devices you already have. So, it’s important to enable iCloud backup in order for data and settings stored on your device to be backed up in iCloud. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to check and view your iCloud backups.
Steps to check and manage iCloud backups on iOS devices
On iOS device running iOS 10.3
Step 1: First off, open the Settings app and tap your Apple ID section.
Step 2: Tap iCloud > iCloud Storage breakdown.
Step 3: You now need to tap Manage Storage to reveal a list of your devices. Just tap the device’s name to check the backup.
On iOS device running iOS 10.2/10.1/10 and iOS 9
Step 1: First and foremost, navigate to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage.
Step 2: Tap Manage Storage located beneath iCloud.
Step 3: Lastly, tap the device’s name to view its backup.
Steps to access and view iCloud backup contents
It’s impossible to directly access the iCloud backup details as iCloud always encrypts your backups. You have to restore your iOS device from iCloud backup or use a third-party app to extract iCloud backup. To restore your iOS device from iCloud backup, do the following:
Step 1: Navigate to Settings > General > Reset, and then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
Step 2: You need to follow the onscreen setup steps to head to the Apps & Data screen.
Step 3: Tap Restore from iCloud Backup. After that, sign in with your Apple ID and select a backup to restore.
